Random Linkage: Queen Srimala, Buddhist Gamers, Ethical Codes, Bringing up Buddhas and a signpost

2012 December 19
  • I’m currently reading possibly the most inspiring book I’ve read of 2012. A review is coming, but the author refers to Queen Srimala who I haven’t ever heard of before. He speaks of her having made three vows of aspiration, namely her aspiration to always be able to hear the dharma throughout all her future lives, to never tire of sharing the dharma with others and to always treasure the dharma more than her body and her life. For more about this sutra you can check these audio files or you could pick up a copy of ‘The Lion’s Roar of Queen Srimala: A Buddhist Scripture on the Tathagatagarbha Theory’  I think I’m going to be checking it out in due time.
  • The best Worst Horse wrote about The newest video game? “The Buddhist” and links to the full feature on Engaget. I’m wondering if it’s like Ian Bogost’s Guru Meditation?
  • Currently reading this article ‘Stopping, Taking a Breath, and Recalling Why we Need to Attend to Ethical Codes and Practices Within our Emerging Zen Sanghas in the West’ by James Ford.
  • I’m childless by choice but checking out Bringing up Buddhas - Suburban adventures in Buddhist mothering. You go girl
