I urge urge urge you to watch Heidi Minx’s six part interview with Palden Gyatso as it demonstrates the ultimate level of patience and compassion that a monk has displayed after being imprisoned and tortured by the Chinese government. Palden Gyatso spent 33 years in Chinese prisons and labor camps and suffered terribly. Having an electric rod jammed into his mouth, his teeth are fake. He’s covered in scares from beatings, being hung and kneeling on glass.
Of his experience, he states, “I accumulated this karma, I must experience it. The conditions were provided by China- the main causes were caused by me. When I experienced my suffering, I knew that it was minimal in comparison to that of other people.”
