I’m committing this month to participating in the Reverb10 project. It’s a great little initiative to allow people to review this past year and think about 2011. I’m a sucker for these kinds of things, not out of the goal to attain anything beyond a better understanding of where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to and where I might be headed. Taking this time to reflect is something I sadly rarely take the time for.
The prompt for today is One Word.
Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?
Here it goes…
For me, 2011 is going to be about returning to this smiling little gal sitting on the big golden chair. I’m to be a kid again and let loose with my tiny self. I’m looking to take drum lessons (time for band camp), get back on my skateboard (need to break a bone before osteoporosis sets in) and I’m going to “go tenting” (in the summer - it’s Canada silly). I may chug a 6pack to get in touch with my teen self and overdose on old copies of Archie comics and episodes of Wonder Woman. Hell yeah!
I’m choosing “childhood” as my word because I’ve been missing that foolish little ice cream drool-faced kid and want to have her around. I miss the complete joy found in moments that kids seem to catch and we seem to pass on by.
2011 - we are going to get goofy*!
*Goofier than usual
Love this… what an awesome set of words!
This post reminds me of how Julia Child always seemed “a little bit drunk” in the way that she always seemed a little too giddy, or lively or goofy! But sometimes - I think that’s just what this world needs!
