Here are some blogs you really should check out… Thanks to Barry for mentioning these along to me, for all the comments recently and for the great work in blogging such engaging and diverse materials.

www.oxherding.com
Barry’s efforts to ‘herd the ox’ (love the juxtaposition with the Worst Horse, another one of my favourite blogs!)

www.godrinktea.com
Interesting and obscure Zen koans ‘for everyday use’. I’m going to start my day off with these.

www.zenwomen.com
Entertaining and engaging stories of female Zen practitioners (Tang Dynasty China)

If you don’t read Blogmandu , you are missing out on the best of the Buddhist-istic Blogs on the web.

I just finished reading an excellent post which was part of this week’s Blogmandu round up on a weblog titled Doe-Do on the subject of emotional detachment and compassion. In this post, Mike Doe writes…

I want people to be realistic with emotions. The best thing that you can do in general is learn how to accept everything that you feel without discrimination. This will allow your heart to be open and compassionate. This is also hard practice.

One of the initial mistakes I made coming into Buddhism was that Buddhists are so serene and peace-loving that they never get angry. Storing away anger or envy or resentment doesn’t allow one to work with the richness of that bullshit.. the truly earthiness of what it is to be human. In working with why we feel the emotions we feel and then seeing that these emotions are impermenant is the challenge.
