There’s a great little game circulating around called Akoha which bases winning all around the concept of ‘playing it forward’. It’s premise is simple. Earn points by playing real-world missions with your friends by handing them a numbered card which is used to trace the journey of ‘good actions’ the card has taken on its way to you.

Missions include good actions such as giving someone your favorite book, giving a compact florescent bulb, donating some of your time, inviting a friend for drinks, or thanking someone.

“Karma points” are gained through engaging in additional missions which allow you to create your own missions for others to get involved in. Additional goodness abounds as once the Akoha global community of players complete 25,000 missions, Akoha will partner with Room to Read and a school community in Nepal to sponsor the construction of a library and fill it with books, games and posters.

Many cool folks are working on this and I wish them the best of success in this project. The random acts of kindness generated by these missions certainly help to make the world a better place.
