Holy Kumbaya!

Between reading and reviewing EVERY DHARMA BOOK CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET, I’m doing things. A lot of these things come out of craving a community. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lovely sangha and they are supportive and friendly and irritating and obnoxious… Kinda like all sanghas worldwide, maybe even your own.

*I know that I too am supportive and friendly and irritating and obnoxious so this is by no means a dig at my sangha, it’s as much a dig at my ever changing moods, emotions and perceptions.

A few ideas have been percolating these days for community gatherings and bringing people together without the banner of Buddhism but with the banner of just being good, decent, broken humanfolk who want to meet other good, decent, broken humanfolk to sit, share or stay quiet with. The desire I have to gather with others comes from my wish to see that as much as the media machine pumps out images of a scary world, there’s still some goodness out there and within us and we can take care and be good to one another.

Dear reader. You may be saying “Holy Kumbaya! That’s some serious hippy shit you’ve been smoking. Go listen to this…. Get your cred back little Tanya.

Don’t worry. My cred is still intact. I want to reincarnate the Montreal Dharma Punx group too. I think that it’s time that at least on a monthly basis, a DPX crew manifests in Montreal. Goodness knows I’m asked about it often enough that I think it’s time that some folks who are interested in sitting get together and do it.
I can’t do it without you. Well I can because anyone really can rent a room, sit in a room alone with a cushion and listen to some mp3’s from Noah Levine.
But I don’t want to do it without you.
