While some are commenting that this would make for a pretty decent TV show, it is indeed a trailer for Lodo Rinzler’s new book “The Buddha Walks Into a Bar”

I’m really looking forward to reading it.

When Atisa went to Sumatra to study with Dharmakirti, he studied the teacher and the conduct of his students for eight years before committing to practice with him (the story goes). Many North American Buddhist spokespeople have learned to talk the talk, but it will take many years before we can see if individuals walk the walk. The entire presentation of this book and author gives me cognitive dissonance.

I can completely understand your feedback. I’m curious about the book to see how much ‘meat’ is present within.

With books from Noah Levine and Brad Warner (the fore-fathers of the nu-skool Buddhist writers), I’m able to discern that they are indeed walking the talk given their having put in the time for practice and study (both in the West and abroad) as well as having a good connection with their lineage and heritage.

It’ll be interesting to see if this one lives up to the hype!
