Hot fun in the summertime

I’ve got my nose buried in “Commit to Sit” & Stephen Batchelor’s “Verses From the Center”.

The Nagajuna book club I was a part of was a bit too advanced for me so I decided to take the famous “I need to be gentle on myself” option and do some self study. I seem to do quite a bit of self study and as much as I disliked the Shambhala studies approach to sit in a circle and talk about feelings, I do admit that I really miss just talking about life, Buddhism and practice outside of pure dharma study. I think I’m destined to have the goldilocks syndrome when it comes to Buddhism. This sutra’s too hard. This meditation session is too soft.

The middle way is just right.

This brought a smile to my face. “This cushion is too hard!” These books are too simplistic,” “That talk was too complex for me,” has given way to an open heart to accept it all, but not before much much judgment. I STILL think the cushions are too hard.
