Did you hear the one about the lawyer and the buddha? No? Neither did I. That’s why I’m asking if there are any lawyers in the house?

I’m giving more and more thought to right livelihood these days and I’m going to be applying to law school in the winter to give it a go.

It’s a childhood dream of mine (as a child of divorce- you get to know lawyers pretty early in your life!) and feel like it would be a good way for me to exercise wisdom, compassion and service. Am I deluded?

Yeah.. I’m more wondering if law is a suitable profession.

Guess it comes down to intention more than anything – like if my intention is more to help than to drive a Benz and hang out with the gals on the golf course.

I’m considering law or end of life care (as a profession – not for myself!) First step is to see if I can get accepted into a program.

You might try to find this book (the author is a Buju and lawyer). We tend to think of lawyers as perverters of our sense of right and wrong who tangle common sense in legalese, but where would we be without law? He argues something quite different.

Defense attorney, civil rights lawyer, lots of good jobs out there for lawyers.

    Matt-

Thanks for the book suggestion. I did a quick google for Buddhism and law and found the link below which has proven so precious to me..
