I’m not sure that I have five favorite dharma books, but I’ll tell you the five that I think have inspired me the most (listed in the order in which I first read them):

    1) Start Where You Are (Pema Chodron)

    2) Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior* (VCTR)

    3) The Heart of the Buddha’s Teachings (Thich Nhat Hanh)

    4) Sacred World (Jeremy Hayward)

    5) Buddha in the Palm of Your Hand (Osel Tendzin)

*I think that’s it’s probably too difficult for me to really remember which kernels of wisdom appear in which VCTR book. Ultimately, it was one of the passages about the five buddha families (probably the one in The Lion’s Roar) that helped me best appreciate myself for who I am. :) Not that I do yet, but you know what I mean.
